DODGE Cuts, Government Shutdown, and Camping

I’m back from another camping trip at an area administered by the National Park Service. Even though the Government Shutdown has been in effect for over a month, everything went well, even the fabulous weather, which the government has no control over.

In addition to this last trip, we have spent an addition 2+ months camping  in various units after Trump implemented the DODGE cuts earlier this year. These camping trips were in areas administered by the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, and the US Forest Service. On all these trips things were “business as usual” with neither unexpected surprises nor problems.

I should point out that we camp mostly in remote places with little or no facilities. So our experiences this year might not be the same as those who visited the heavily-used, high demand camping destinations operated by the different agencies.

Also, the National Park Service administers all kinds of properties aside from campgrounds. In this vein, back in September we visited Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park. Everything was open and made for an enjoyable trip.

So there you have it. Things were normal in spite of DODGE cuts and the Government Shutdown.

This last trip brought blue skies, and nice weather (highs in 70s F and lows around 50 F). Not much else to say, so here are a few pictures:
