A few days ago I posted an article titled, You need a new TV. I shared the conversation Joyce and I had about a possible new camper, and her perception that we need a new TV, or Tow Vehicle.
As it turned out, she was correct. We ended up getting a new camper and the new tow vehicle (TV), does an excellent job towing it.
After we took delivery of our new camper, Joyce declared, “We need a new TV!”
In this case, she wasn’t talking about a new tow vehicle, but a new television. Now we rarely camp in places that have TV reception, but we occasionally take a portable TV with a DVD player to watch a movie at night. Most often, when we take a couple DVD’s, we don’t even watch them.
Our camper came with a wall mounted 19” 720 DPI TV. It is much nicer than our portable TV. But sitting in the bay window chairs, it is sort of small. Of course we could sit at the dinette and watch a movie. I didn’t suggest it. She wanted a new TV.
My biggest concern was the weight of a large TV, since it is wall-mounted. So I made some measurements and determined that a 32” flat screen TV would fit the wall. I also saw that most of them were well over 20 pounds, requiring a larger and heftier mounting kit. The original mounting kit was nice and secure, not to mention easy to use. A little internet search showed the company made a larger mount that would handle a bigger TV, the MAX-Q TVS-4008 LCD TV Bracket. It comes with double adjustment arms, adjustable tilt, and two locking pins to secure it during travel.
Next was a Google search of a suitable television. First on my list was weight, second was performance.
If found a Samsung 32” LED unit (model UN32EH5300). Samsung calls it a Smart TV. Well it does all kinds of features we will never use. But the picture quality is outstanding at a scant 12 pounds of total weight.

So what do I think about it? Doesn’t matter. As the old saying goes, “if mama ain’t happy, no one is going to be happy.” And Joyce is thrilled with her new TV.
