East of Mono Craters and South of Mono Lake is a large Jeffery Pine forest. Water is scarce, but the winter snowfall provides the water to keep it healthy. In winter the only paved road near the area is closed and most people aren’t much interested in the area in summer because there is no paved road in the area, no scenic streams or lakes. All of this means the area is rarely visited. Rarely visited means no people.

And after Yosemite, this seemed like the perfect antidote. So off we went.

From the upper elevations of this forest there are some great views of the Eastern Sierra.

Better. Better. Life is much better. We’ll be back.
