Joyce bought me a Six Moon Designs Deschutes Silpoly shelter for my birthday.

The Deschutes is, in my opinion, the best buy on the market for a ultralight one person shelter.

After several days of rain, I finally got the chance to set up the shelter to seal the seams. While doing this I took a few pictures.

Let me confuse you.

In 2018 I wrote this article, If I Could Have Only One Shelter it Would be a MLD TrailStar.

Yesterday I wrote a post stating TarpTent Scarp 1: My Favorite Shelter of All Time.

Today I am stating that my go to shelter is neither the TrailStar, nor the Scarp 1. My “go to’ shelter is my Six Moon Designs Deschutes CF, which I wrote about 10 years ago as a first impression essay.

Great Expectations

A lot of buzz lately about Brian Frankle joining Six Moon Designs as the Director of Pack Designs (link to the website).

For those who don’t know, Brian is the founder of Ultralight Adventure Equipment (ULA). As an accomplished long distance hiker, Brian started designing and building is own packs for his own use and this eventually morphed into ULA.

After 9 years, Brian tired of the day-to-day operation of running his own company and sold ULA to Chris and Sally McMaster in 2009.
