Weber Baby Q Carrying Bag

The Weber Baby Q grill has been a centerpiece of our camping trips for at least 20 years. At first the grill was stored in our camper. Inside storage left odors in the camper even if stored outside of the living space of the camper.

So for nearly 20 years it has been stored it in a plastic container. It is stored in our garage. Before each trip, it is moved to the camper. Even though the storage container was similar in size to the grill, it was kinda big and bulky.

It was finally time to search for a better option, an option that wasn’t available in the past.

Not A Review

I found what appears to be the perfect solution on Amazon — a SAMDEW nylon carry bag. This isn’t a true review, because, as my readers know, a product needs to used for at least 10 years before I review it. And it must do what it is designed to do before I write a positive review.

The bag does seem to be well constructed.

Features

Size

It fits our Baby Q 120 (now called the Q 1200) just perfectly. Not too big and not too small.

It even has room for the grill to be stored with the grill cover over the top. Not to mention the optional LED light on the grill’s handle.

Exterior Storage

There is a large zippered storage pocket in the front. It can hold grilling utensils, but I prefer to store those inside our camper with all our cooking and eating utensils. It is the perfect size for our grill brush.

Not wanting to get the inside of the storage pocket dirty from the grill brush, I store it in a 2.5 gallon food storage bag.

These large 2.5 gallon ZipLoc bags are handy for all kinds of things. From storing Owner Manuals in the camper, to storing freeze-dried food or extra clothing when I am backpacking.

Each end of the SAMDEW carry bag has two mesh pockets for storing other items. Each pocket can accommodate a 16 oz. propane canister. We don’t use these canisters because I have modified the grill to run on the bulk propane tanks on the camper.

Carrying Straps

There are two methods to carry the bag. A shoulder strap and the typical straps found on most duffle bags. I’ll probably remove the shoulder strap. It would be nice if the bag had a carry strap at each end, but one can’t have everything one desires!

It’s A Bag, Not A Case

The interior has a smooth fabric lining that should make cleaning easy should grease and food residue fall from the grill into the bag itself.

Given the grill has “legs” not a flat bottom, the bag does sag a little when carrying the grill. Wanting to add a little support to the bottom and, at the same time, adding a little more protection from grease and food particles, I found this great backing tin. It isn’t quite as long as the bottom of the bag, but it does eliminate the sag when carrying the grill.

The smooth and shiny stainless steel pan will be easy to clean. You can see the reflection of one of our outdoor ceiling fans on the pan.

Yododo Stainless Steel Baking Pan

I like this baking pan so much that I’ll be placing it under the grill when using it camping. There is a substantial lip around the perimeter of the pan, which should help keep any debris from spilling over onto the interior of the bag when in transport.
