Prior Attacks

Back in 2018 this my website was hacked and wiped out as I shared in this post. In the end I had to pay someone to fix things (luckily I do automatic backups everyday). The company, SharkGate, fixed the site and since then I have been paying SharkGate $299 per year for security, which has worked. I have had no incursions into my website. I get monthly reports from SharkGate documenting the attacks they have repelled. I can also go to their website and view the attacks and the sources.

In addition, I am using the free version of WordFence as a second line of defense. Same thing, I can view failed attempts and where they have come from.

I don’t know much about these attacks, other than they are done by hackers using “bot” programs that crawl the World Wide Web looking for undefended or poorly defended websites.

Did Putin Order This?

Obviously, no one would purposely attack my website. There is no financial or political gain. However, many hackers are just destructive assholes.

I have never had some many attempts in such a short period of time as I had last night. And we know Vladimir is going to increase Russia’s cyber attacks against our freedom loving republic.
